Huang Xi
(Huang Simao)
Inspired by an awakening…
Huang Xi is an acute observer of the society in which he lives. His earlier work reflects the hedonistic impulses and desires that he and his peers experienced during the economic opening up of China in the 1980s. His current work examines how this earlier lack of restraint has impacted people’s innermost beings. Although contextually specific to China, his work touches on the essence of human nature.
